Feb. 13, 2018 Family Fun Night and Silent AuctionWe are excited to announce that the PTSA will be hosting a Family Fun Night and Silent Auction event on the evening of Friday, March 31st. There will be activities for the entire family, along with a school dance and food trucks. The PTSA will be selling raffle tickets prior to and during the event. The raffle tickets can be used to win some amazing gift baskets. In addition to the gift baskets, there will be items for auction. You will not want to miss a chance to bid on these items. One item up for auction will be 4 1-day Park Hopper passes to Walt Disney World. We will post more details as the event approaches. Do you own a business, or own a beach or mountain house, or no somebody who does? Please consider donating to our raffle and silent auction. Contributions can be in the form of a gift basket, gift card, products, services, or experiences. In the meantime, we could use some volunteers to help collect more donations, event set-up, and volunteer during the event itself. During Student-Led Conferences, your child will lead the conference and present their portfolio of work from their core classes--Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, & Science). Also, you will receive and view your child’s 2nd quarter progress report. This is a great opportunity for your child to reflect on the year and showcase their talents. We look forward to seeing you! -If you would like a parent-teacher conference, please let us know and we will happily schedule one at a different time. If you know middle or high schoolers who sing, dance, recite poetry, play an instrument, act, etc. please ask them to email me and sign up for a slot. If you know middle or high schoolers who write, be sure to come to let them know about our "Hamilton!" program and also learn about National November Writing Month (NANOWRIMO). Make homemade gifts for family and friends! 8/30/16 Battle of the Books Club The Battle of the Books (BOB) Club is looking for students who like to read and LOVE competition! The club meets after school from 3:00-4:00. The state list of 27 books can be found on the Clubs link from the LRMS website. The list includes a wide variety of books from many genres and reading levels. Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 can participate. We have many activities to help students memorize book titles, authors and story line details. We also have mock battles among the Lufkin team members, and we Skype with other middle schools in preparation for the county competition in late February. Mrs. Ruby and Mrs. Huber are the club advisers. The meetings are held in the Media Center. If your child is interested in Battle of the Books, have him/her tell Mrs. Ruby that "BOB sent me!"
